PlayStation Eye Is Now Available

We have been telling you about the impending release of the Playstation Eye for some time now, but for those of you who have trouble remembering what month we are currently in, much less the release date of highly anticipated gaming peripherals, you will be happy to know that the Playstation Eye is now available. The device will come bundled with the Eye of Judgement card game with EyeCreate, the video capturing and editing application available as a free download via the Playstation network.
The latest ‘sources’ are claiming that there’s a new Xbox on its way with a built-in HD-DVD drive. But there’s more. It’s a collaboration with Toshiba, and will feature dual HDTV tuners, an Electronic Programme Guide for digital television and a Zune dock. Of course, that last one is only useful if they ever launch the Zune in the UK. Ho hum.
It’s official. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has just announced a new 40GB PS3 which will launch in Europe for the price of €399. It will be available starting October 10th. As predicted, the new model features two USB 2.0 ports rather than four and no longer includes the multi memory card port. Strangely, the model also loses backwards compatibility support for PS2 games.
Nintendo announced today the Wii Remote Jacket that will be given to all system owners completely free of charge. The Wii Remote Jacket is a silicon cover made specifically to fit the Wii Remote and “provides cushioning for the Wii Remote for people who might accidentally throw or drop their Wii Remotes while playing games.”
Sony Corporation launched its new handheld PlayStation Portable version in Japan on September 20th and has announced that it has already sold over 250,000 units since the launch.
Microsoft “Halo 3″ video game set an opening-day U.S. sales record of $170 million, outdoing any video game or movie debut and giving the company’s entertainment unit a strong boost toward profitability. Alien-shooting fans also surged onto Microsoft’s Xbox Live online service. More than a million members took up virtual arms in “Halo 3″ in the first 20 hours on September 25, the day the game debuted, Microsoft said on Wednesday.
